There are different issues with the location of the exhibition, as it is outside there are health and safety issues as well the issue of preserving the art for the duration of the show:
- The cave will have to be well lit for the safety of the audience in case of tripping over or walking into obstycles.
- A risk assesessment would need to be carried out to ensure the location was safe enough for the audience, e.g. stability of ground, any loose-hanging rocks etc.
- A walk-way or a path will have to be created for the audience to follow, away from the walls and well marked with either small lights or fluorescent paint.
- It is likely that the audience will need to wear some sort of protective gear, e.g. hard-helmets etc unless the environment of the cave can be kept consistent.
- The artwork will need to be lit up as well for the audience to get the full effect of the work.
- The artwork will need to be protected from the elements.
- The cave itself will need to be somewhat protected from the elements to make it a safe environment for the audience, e.g. sheltered, possibly heated in some way etc.
- Marshalls will be required within the exhibition to monitor the artwork so no damage is sustained and so that the audience is under no threat of element exposure or general accident due to the exhibition being outside.
- Any other special effects that I may include will also have to monitored or well secured to ensure safety of the audience.
- Warnings will have to issued such as not recommending people with visual impairment partake in the exhibition due to the light quality and arrangement of lighting.
- I plan to include hand-held torches in the exhibition so that the audience can shine the light on the artwork and get a better look at the details of the work - this idea came from a plan we had in the our collaborative exhibition - I would need to consider the amount of torches that would be required and how I would recharge them and how long a person was permitted to use them.
- Ensure location does not harm wildlife or is a habitat of any species for the protection of the creatures as well as the audience.
I will add more points as I go along.
