Mark Tobey. I chose to include this artist as the complex patterns and illustration remind me of the spontanous formation of plants and have a primitive sense of story-telling in the swirls and lines of the patterns. The marks made in some of the works seem to look like they were spontanously formed and express a chaotic formation that seems to have meaning like the cave paintings do with the patterns and illustrations made. I also like the colours used and, as the exhibition will be displayed in a cave, I will need to light up the works and I think this would work interestingly with light shined on it.
